PART-TIME SCHOOL VAN DRIVER

Reports to: Transport Coordinator / Administration

Role purpose
You will transport learners safely to and from school on time. You will keep the van clean, roadworthy, and well managed.

Key duties

1. Pick and drop learners on assigned routes, morning and afternoon.
2. Follow approved routes, time schedules, and speed limits.
3. Do daily checks before trips, tyres, brakes, lights, oil, fuel, first aid kit.
4. Keep a daily logbook for mileage, fuel, and service notes.
5. Keep the van clean inside and outside at all times.
6. Ensure learner safety, seat belts, orderly seating, safe boarding and alighting.
7. Report faults, incidents, and near misses to administration the same day.
8. Support school safety drills and basic emergency response.

Minimum requirements

1. Valid Class D1 driving permit.
2. Minimum 3 years driving experience with a good safety record.
3. Proven experience driving children or passenger vehicles is preferred.
4. Good knowledge of Uganda traffic rules and road safety.
5. Basic vehicle care skills and ability to notice faults early.
6. Good communication and a calm attitude with children and parents.
7. Willingness to undergo reference checks and a police clearance.

Added advantage

1. Defensive driving training or a valid first aid certificate.
2. Experience working in a school setting.
3. Mechanical background.
