Uganda 2026 school calendar dates have officially been released by the Ministry of Education and Sports, outlining key term dates, holiday breaks, co-curricular events, and operational guidelines for all schools, including Kasumba Nursery and Primary School. This comprehensive guide helps parents, teachers, and learners prepare effectively for the upcoming school year, January 25, 2026.
Key Term Dates in the Uganda 2026 School Calendar
According to the Uganda 2026 school calendar, the academic year will be structured into three terms totaling 260 instructional days. These dates apply to all pre-primary, primary, and post-primary institutions.
- Term I: Starts on Monday, February 2 and ends Friday, May 1 – 89 school days. A three-week holiday follows.
- Term II: Begins Monday, May 25 and runs through Friday, August 21 – 89 school days.
- Term III: Commences Monday, September 14 and ends Friday, December 4 – 82 school days.
Kasumba School will align its academic program with this national schedule to ensure consistency with Ministry guidelines.
Reporting Schedules and Placement Notes
While the main term dates apply to all learners, the Ministry of Education also released special reporting timelines for secondary students:
- Senior One students report on Monday, February 16, after receiving placement results in late January.
- Senior Five students are expected to report on Monday, February 23, following their placement on February 12–13.
Parents of P7 graduates at Kasumba who transition into secondary school should take note of these dates.

Learning Hours and Operational Guidelines
The Ministry mandates the following daily school hours across the country:
- Pre-primary pupils (nursery): 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Primary pupils (P1–P7): 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Kasumba School adheres to these standard hours. Importantly, teaching must begin on the first day of each term. Schools are not permitted to shorten terms without written approval from the Permanent Secretary, Kedrace Turyagyenda.
Co-Curricular Events in 2026
The Uganda 2026 school calendar also includes several key co-curricular activities that enrich student learning beyond the classroom:
- Term I: In-school competitions in music, dance, and drama (MDD).
- Term II Holiday: National cultural festivals across Uganda.
- July: National science fair to promote STEM innovation.
- Late August: Debate competitions at secondary level, with school-wide engagement encouraged for younger learners.
Kasumba Nursery and Primary School plans to organize internal MDD showcases, science activities, and mini debates to reflect national priorities.
